ADay4All in Geneva…

To celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities this year, the Mission of the Republic of Korea, Bulgaria, Mexico, Brazil and Israel will join forces with a number of UN agencies, civil society organizations and the International Disability Alliance, to host a roundtable discussion and art exhibition at Palais des Nations.

A Day for All Roundtable: Joining Member States and the UN towards an inclusive and accessible society for all.

The roundtable will involve a number of honorable guests, including Catalina Devandas Aguilar, Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Jillian Dempster, Ambassador of New Zealand to the UN in Geneva, and Jorge Lomónaco, Ambassador of Mexico to the UN in Geneva. Discussions will be centered around 3 themes: A more inclusive United Nations; Improving accessibility of the UN work; and Engaging the community to advance the inclusion of persons with disabilities. It will take place on Monday 4 December 2017 from 10:30 to 12:30 and will be divided into three sections of 30 minutes.

Art exhibition

At 12:30, on Monday 4 December, the roundtable will be followed by the opening reception of the art exhibition titled ‘Like Wildflowers, Like the Stars : Kim Geun-tae and children of five continents with disabilities’. The exhibition showcases the work of Korean artist Mr Kim Geun-tae’s, whose paintings explore the joy of children with intellectual disabilities through the colors of four seasons. The exhibition will continue at Palais des Nations from 4 to 8 December.

Mr Kim Geun-tae’s work has been previously showcased at a number of events with huge success, including the 2015 International Day of Persons with Disabilities at UN Headquarters in New York, the Berlin Wall, the Cultural Institute in Berlin, the Korean Delegation to the OECD in Paris, and the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.
